7 Ways to Break Out of That Black Coat Rut This Winter

Whether you’re stuck indoors because of the storm and ready to indulge in some online shopping or you’re just motivated to pick up a new winter coat because it’s that time of year, check out these 7 gorgeous options I’ve got my eye on, all under $375.

I’m a simple black coat girl myself but this season there are so many great non-black options on shelves, I have to say, I’m tempted to break from the norm.

H&M turquoise coat, $129, hm.com for stores.

I spotted this fabulous fuzzy-texture coat in H&M about a week ago. I love the sleek neckline and rich color. I’d layer a huge black cashmere scarf underneath for warmth.

J.Crew Stadium-cloth Boulevard trench, $365, jcrew.com

J.Crew is known for making really simple outerwear look high-fashion with little styling tricks (and bedhead-pretty models) but this season, the coats themselves are really standout.

Premium Longline Biker coat, $350, topshop.com

While I’ve never actually owned one, I love the idea of a winter white coat. This one has the high neck, below-the-knee cut that’ll keep you cozy through the winter season. Wear it with your brightest matte red lipstick!

Bellfield hooded striped jacket, $141, asos.com

A parka is a great thing to have in your closet and this striped version is a fun (but not too crazy) take on the classic. I’d live in a coat like this on winter weekends along with dark jeans, cozy sweaters, and Chelsea boots.

Calvin Klein Luxe coat, $187, piperlime.com

Oxblood is the color of the season but this coat will last you a lot longer than that; it’s a classic. Imagine how gorgeous it would look with a cranberry scarf from Yokoo on Etsy and a pair of simple black leather gloves. I die.

Need Supply Co. Mitzi coat, $374, needsupply.com

While the color and shape of this coat might normally scare me, there’s something military-cool about it that I love. Cocoon coats are having a moment this season so there’s no better time to try this unconventional cut.

What do you think of my picks? Do you like any of these coats? What are you looking for in a jacket this season?
