Glamour’s annual Women of the Year awards evening was full of inspiring moments (more on that here!), proud honorees (we’ve got you covered!), girl power (don’t miss a minute!), and, last but certainly not least, some seriously fashionable moments courtesy of the A-list attendees. Check out what they wore, plus more inside scoop straight from the red carpet!
Honoree and December cover girl Selena Gomez struck the perfect chord, as always, between sweet and sophisticated. Her silk dress is by Giambattista Valli, and that sheer floral top has just the right hint of va-va-voom.
Let the record state, ladies, that presenter Chelsea Clinton has some serious style going on. She’s killing it in this graphic printed dress by Mary Katrantzou.
Forget Lena Dunham’s navy Roksanda Ilincic dress for a minute–though it is chic!–and focus instead on those metallic heels. They created one of the evening’s most memorable moments, when she was accepting her award and, halfway through, announced, “I have to take my shoes off you guys, I’m sorry.” The offending pumps were swiftly moved to the side and girlfriend continued her speech, to which I tweeted, #badass.
Our style idol of the moment, Solange Knowles, looked cool as ever in a bright crocheted dress by Derek Lam. And while she wasn’t wearing J. Crew, she did show up with the brand’s creative director, Jenna Lyons…
…who brought a femme twist to a classic menswear look. A crisp white blouse, tailored trousers, and a bow tie (!!) all got the girly treatment thanks to cap-toe pumps and oversize earrings. No wonder every girl in uh, the world is trying to bite her style right about now.
Some of the evening’s most inspiring moments also came courtesy of the gold medal-winning Olympians, including Gabby Douglas, who practically killed us with her smile (and her ability to walk gracefully in Louboutins at age 16–not fair!).
But my best dressed award for the evening goes, hands down, to Olympian Allyson Felix, who showed off her hard-earned biceps in a black strapless mermaid gown.
The Good Wife star Julianna Margulies was another favorite, wearing Chado Ralph Rucci. How elegant is she!?
